Hackney Marsh Team Ministry

Called to proclaim the good news in Hackney Marsh

Angie was born in Saffron Walden, Essex in 1955 (yes an Essex Girl and proud of it!).  Her father was a fighter pilot so she spent her early years  living in Cyprus, Kenya, Aden (Now South Yemen) and England.  Her Father wanted her to have an Irish education! So she attended convent schools in Northern Ireland and Croydon.  Angie was brought up as a Catholic and cannot remember a time when God was not a part of her life but she came to a personal faith in Jesus at the age of 16 – an event which has shaped the rest of her life.

Upon leaving school she trained as a nurse at the Middlesex Hospital in Central London and achieved her SRN in 1979. She nursed for 10 years specialising in Cancer Care.  She felt God calling her into full time ministry in the early eighties and after some years exploring the way ahead was ordained deacon in 1990 and was ordained priest in 1994 amongst the first women to be ordained into the priesthood.

She served her title in Leytonstone from 1990 – 1995 and then moved to Harlow where she was Team Vicar at St Mary Little Parndon for 10 years.  During that time she was also a part time hospital chaplain and responsible for training church members to equip them for all areas of Christian Service.  She moved to Hackney in 2005 and was licensed as team Vicar of Christchurch in February 2006.  She has also been the Bishop of Stepney’s Advisor on the Paranormal and a member of the Stepney Area Major incident response team since 2006.

In her spare time Angie is an avid armchair sportswoman being particularly interested in Formula One Motor Racing and Cricket.  She loves to cook, to read and to garden and enjoys camping and fell walking.  Her home is ruled by her black cat Merry.
