"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."
Naomi was born and brought up in a Christian family in Tanzania, where both her parents and her ten brothers and sisters lived. She attended church with her family right from childhood, and at the age of 19 following her involvement with the Christian Union movement in her School, she made her personal commitment to Christ. Soon after, Naomi felt called into ordained ministry. However she was unable to pursue her call to ordination since her Church in Tanzania does not ordain women.
Naomi came to England in 2004 to work as a volunteer at the Centre for Health and Pastoral Care, Holy Rood House, North Yorkshire, where she stayed for a year. She later moved to London where she worked for two years as a Pastoral Assistant in Upper Holloway Parish. During this time, her call to ordination grew increasingly, and following a period of discernment, the Church of England affirmed her call and recommended her for training.
Naomi trained at St. John’s Theological College in Nottingham. She was ordained deacon at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London in June 2009, and was Priested on 29th May 2010.
Before coming to England, Naomi had been an active member of the Girls Brigade movement in Tanzania and had worked in the Development Office of the Diocese of Mara for 5 years, providing Administrative support.
Naomi is passionate about meeting people, travelling and cycling. She also loves cooking, reading current affairs, personal studying and outings.
